The IFA, which began on 4 December 1924 as the ‘Great German Radio Exhibition’ in Berlin-Westend, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Originally specialising in detector receivers and tube radios, IFA developed into the world's leading trade fair for innovations in consumer electronics and household appliances. Over the past decades, it has provided a platform for ground-breaking technologies, from the first superhet receivers and sound recording techniques to live broadcasts and the first European car radio.
